Chicago Group Transportation: Bears Days Holidays

Which Bears home dates change your plan?
Date | Kickoff | Opponent | What's different |
Sun Nov 8 | 7:20 p.m. | Buccaneers | The only night game. No post-game tailgating in the stadium lots. |
Sun Nov 22 | 12:00 p.m. | Saints | Market open. Loop and lakefront busy the same day. |
Sun Dec 6 | 12:00 p.m. | Jaguars | Market open. Same Loop and lakefront load. |
Fri Dec 25 | 12:00 p.m. | Packers | Christmas Day. The market has already closed. |
All four kickoffs are Central time. Nov 22 and Dec 6 are the two dates to book a Chicago charter bus rental early, because they are the ones that collide with the market. Both also sit late enough in the season for the NFL to move a Sunday kickoff time, so reconfirm the hour before you lock the coach.
Soldier Field: five pointers
· One legal drop-off curb. "Buses may drop-off and pick-up guests on Columbus Drive, north of Balbo. Buses cannot drop off or pick up guests on any other area roadway." On the Chicago grid that curb sits about a mile north of the stadium, so either build the walk into your arrival time or unload at the lot where the coach is parking, such as the Adler Lot on a game day.
· The lockout. "Buses, taxi cabs, and limousines will not be allowed to enter Soldier Field Campus starting 90 minutes after kick-off until one hour after the game is over." On the Nov 22 noon kickoff, that is 1:30 p.m. until about an hour after the whistle.
· Where the coach parks. The Adler Planetarium Lot: $160 drive-up, first-come, or $160 plus a $5 transaction fee reserved through SoldierFieldParking.com. Reserving is optional, not required.
· The overflow. "When available, buses and RVs can also park at the 31st St. McCormick Place Lot B for $85 drive-up, $90 prepaid."
· Lots open four hours before kickoff. For the three noon games that is 8 a.m.
Two clocks run after a day game, and they are not the same clock. Tailgating in the stadium lots ends two hours after the game; the lots themselves close later. We could not pin that second hour down, because we found two different figures on the official pages, so confirm it with the stadium before you promise the group a slow exit.
What can't a December tailgate include?
· No tents or canopies of any size.
· "No open flame, infrared panel or propane heaters of any type allowed in any lot."
· Propane tanks larger than 19 pounds are not allowed on campus at all.
· "Firepits/open fires are NOT ALLOWED IN ANY LOTS."
· No open flame, grilling or otherwise, in the enclosed garages or the lower Waldron Deck.
For the Nov 8 night game, add one more: all tailgating in stadium-controlled lots is prohibited after night games, and those lots close immediately rather than giving you the two-hour post-game tailgating window a day game allows.
Does the Christkindlmarket publish bus parking?
· Designated downtown motorcoach loading zones and bus lots, as available: 1210–1431 S. Canal Street, 71 E. Hubbard Street, and 111 E. Wacker Drive. The guide lists loading zones and parking together, so have your operator confirm which of the three will hold a parked coach rather than a brief stop. The two Loop addresses are near Daley Plaza; S. Canal Street is well south of it.
· Reserved day lots, bookable through the Chicago Park District: the Wilson lot at Foster Beach, which the guide files under Lincoln Park Zoo, and the Soldier Field and Museum Campus lot — the same Museum Campus parking the Bears pages send buses to, though the $160 above is the game-day rate.
· A marshalling yard is a secured off-street lot where coaches wait between jobs. Chicago's sits at 31st Street and Lake Shore Drive, listed at $38 per day, and it closes to coaches during very large trade shows — check your date against the McCormick Place calendar.
· Idling: Chicago caps idling at three minutes in any sixty-minute period under Municipal Code 9-80-095, with an exemption when the outside temperature is below 32°F. That covers the coldest December days, not all of them.
Those parking locations and prices come from Choose Chicago's 2025 travel-professionals guide, which carries its own note that pricing and availability can change.
A market trip also suits a different vehicle pattern than a game. Groups on a Loop itinerary often do better with an OurBus Charters shuttle bus rental running a loop than with one coach parked somewhere expensive, because a vehicle that keeps moving needs a curb for minutes rather than hours.
What should you send for a quote?
· The date, and whether it is one of the four game days above.
· Kickoff or market arrival time, and the time you want to leave.
· Headcount, firm or estimated.
· Pickup point, and the hotel if you have one.
· Whether you want the coach held nearby or released and recalled.
Send those and request a free charter quote, or call 844-200-2364. For a full coach on a game day, the 50-passenger charter bus is the usual unit. Rates, minimums and refund terms sit on the charter bus rental prices page. Every operator OurBus Charters dispatches is licensed, DOT-compliant and safety-checked before a trip is confirmed.
We checked every date, time, quote and price here against the Bears' and Soldier Field's own pages on October 9, 2026, and the city parking figures against Choose Chicago's 2025 guide. Two things are deliberately missing: the hour the lots close after a day game, because the official pages gave two different figures, and the dollar figure for an idling ticket, because we could not read it on a city page. There is more about us on the OurBus Charters homepage, or contact a planner at 844-200-2364.
Chicago group transportation FAQ
Where do charter buses drop off at Soldier Field?
Columbus Drive, north of Balbo. The Bears' A-Z guide states buses "cannot drop off or pick up guests on any other area roadway." That curb is about a mile north of the stadium, so either build the walk into your arrival time or unload at the lot where the coach is parking.
Can a bus pick up right after a Bears game?
Not from the campus. Buses cannot enter the Soldier Field campus from 90 minutes after kickoff until one hour after the game ends — on a noon Bears kickoff, roughly 1:30 p.m. until the mid-afternoon whistle plus an hour. The coach must be clear before that window opens and cannot return until it closes.
How much is bus parking at a Bears game?
The Adler Planetarium Lot is $160 drive-up or $160 plus a $5 transaction fee if reserved. Buses and RVs can also use the 31st Street McCormick Place Lot B when available, at $85 drive-up or $90 prepaid. Rates are subject to change.
Where can a bus park for the Christkindlmarket?
No motorcoach guidance from the market was reachable, so you work from city options: designated downtown loading zones and bus lots on S. Canal Street, E. Hubbard Street and E. Wacker Drive as available, or a reserved Chicago Park District lot. Have your operator confirm which of those will hold a parked coach, since the published guide is dated 2025.
How long can a charter bus idle in Chicago?
Three minutes in any sixty-minute period, under Municipal Code 9-80-095, with an exemption when the temperature is below 32°F. That exemption applies only when it is actually freezing, and relying on it is the driver's call rather than a guarantee.
